摘要:Since the regulations open the development of civilian Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs) (sometimes called Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, UAVs) in 2005, UAS applications have experienced dramatic growth in the past decade. In particular, with the help of open-source development and significant decreases of hardware prices, UASs have been applied to solve challenging problems effectively in many areas, such as real-time surveillance, rescue missions, pollution monitoring, traffic control, agriculture, firefighting, pipeline/power system inspections, geological survey, etc., in additional popular imaging tasks. However, very little research has been conducted in securing UASs and protecting their critical missions. Since University of Hawaii has become a part of FAA test sites in 2014, we have developed UAS applications in several areas, such as power system inspection and 3D modeling. Furthermore, we have conducted system and security investigation such as secure communication, real-time scheduling, swarming, sense-and-avoid, UAS detection, and Denial of UASs. We will first introduced the background of UASs and their applications, and then discuss several security related issues in this talk.
报告人简介:Prof. Yingfei Dong’s current research mostly focuses on computer and network security and user privacy, including anonymous communications and data sharing, cloud security and privacy, unmanned aerial system security, IoT security, real-time network security, smart grid security, and other security and privacy issues in distributed systems. His work has been published in many referred journals and conferences. He has served as both organizer and program committee member for many IEEE/ACM/IFIP conferences. He is also serving on several editorial boards for international journals on security and networking. He is a senior member of IEEE. He is the Principal of National Center of Academic Excellence in Research (CAE-R) at the University of Hawaii.
He has multiple UAS application and security research projects at the College of Engineering since 2014, including building customized UASs, UAS system and communication security, Co-processing for small UASs, UAS detection, etc. He is currently collaborating with Hawaiian Electrical Company (HECO) for using UAS for power system inspection. His group has performed hand-on analysis on one of the most popular open-source software systems (ArduPolit) and worked extensively on one of the most popular open-source hardware (3DR Pixhawk).
